My name is Nancy Southcott, a dual American and British citizen, neurodiverse individual, a mother and grandmother. I studied psychology and Social Work, holding a Master's degree from the United States. I describe myself as a nomadic and curious creature constantly learning from life and my clients. Over my 27-year career, I have worked in various mental health, wellbeing, and social care settings, including hospitals, outpatient services, local authorities, the NHS, and private practice. I specialize in EMDR and integrative psychotherapy with an attachment-focused background. My passion lies in helping individuals work through trauma and attachment difficulties, improving recovery goals and outcomes.
I am drawn to the healing properties of the ocean and nature, believing that the elements guide and hold us. My specialties are C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, OCD, family systemic issues, self-worth, neurodiversity in mental wellbeing, mindfulness, solution focused work, eating disorders/traits, and personality difficulties. Maya Angelou was an inspiration to me, and she once said: “ I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Authentic connection is at the heart of my partnership with clients towards recovery. My knowledge of SEMH is strong, and in my career working in CAMHS both as a practitioner and manager has increased my knowledge around SEN needs for children. I have worked closely with primary and secondary schools in England and Wales during my career around how best to meet the needs of children and young people. I love anything outdoors, especially hiking, swimming in the ocean, travel, art, meeting new people, cultural understandings, and storytelling/narrative inquiry.
